To make up for my decision to stay at school over our week-long break, my parents decided that if I couldn’t come to them, they would come to me. And dedicated they were (and I’m sure they’re reading this because I told them about my blog…). They left before sunrise in order to beat the snowstorm. Unfortunately they managed to drive through the entirety of the storm. They took a few pit stops, killing time before the could check into their favorite hotel in Freeport (about 35 minutes away from campus). Then they drove over to Lewiston, where they hung out in my common room for a little while, chatting it up with my roommates. Carrying on tradition, they took my roommates who were on campus (2 of them) and me out to dinner at Margarita’s, the popular Mexican restaurant in town. Over guacamole and chips, conversation turned from politics to life after Bates. (Unfortunately for those of us who don’t know yet what’s going to happen, this is an incredibly popular conversation topic.)After a Saturday of shopping in Freeport (a “must” when the ‘rents come to visit), and some tasty off-campus meals, they returned me, safe and sound, to my cozy suite where we watched “Miss Congeniality,” enjoying a quiet Saturday night, unlike the Nordic Ski Team who returned to campus to celebrate the end to their season on the floor above us.(To check out how they did: http://www.bates.edu/x173592.xml)
