background: Bates’s academic day typically ends around 4. That’s when most classes end anyway. On Tuesday however, there are some evening classes that finish between 10 and 10:30. (It’s nice that it’s the only day this can happen…)

story: Last night, we had a great discussion about identity (in French, because, well, it is a French seminar) and how that relates to France and Algeria’s post-colonial relationship. I was on a kind of intellectual high after that class, thinking about Existentialism and other concepts I have a difficult time spelling, so naturally the best way to express my excitement was to play in the snow. It had been snowing all day and all evening, so there was a number of inches to press snow angels into and to throw at my friends. It started off with my suite-mate and me, and we slowly collected people over the next hour. I kind of feel like it’s just one of those things you have to do before you graduate…
